Sarah believes that residents are entitled to a say in the way their city looks and feels.
At this critical time in the city’s development, she will advocate for including the entire community in the update to the Comprehensive Plan update in 2026 if elected.
What does Sarah mean by transparent city government?
Sarah believes your city government needs to make it easy to find the information you need.
Visit the city of Longmont website: longmontcolorado.gov Can you find what you need in no more than two or three clicks?
If elected, Sarah will work with you to make it easier to find information on the city’s website. She will ask staff to work directly with residents so that they can make the city’s website user friendly. You should be able to find the answers to your questions easily.
Reducing barriers to accessing public information
The Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) is a state law that requires most public records to be open for inspection by anyone.
One impediment to access records is the cost the city can charge for research and retrieval in addition to copy fees and delivery costs.
The city decides how much staff time it takes to get the information. Depending on the costs, the city can create significant barriers to a CORA request.
If elected, Sarah will work to make it easier to get access to city records and require the city to not assess unreasonable charges to fulfill a CORA request.
