If elected, Sarah will work with you to make it easier to find information on the city’s website. She will ask staff to work directly with residents so that they can make the city’s website user friendly. You should be able to find the answers to your questions easily.
Reducing barriers to accessing public information
The Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) is a state law that requires most public records to be open for inspection by anyone.
One impediment to access records is the cost the city can charge for research and retrieval in addition to copy fees and delivery costs.
The city decides how much staff time it takes to get the information. Depending on the costs, the city can create significant barriers to a CORA request.
If elected, Sarah will work to make it easier to get access to city records and require the city to not assess unreasonable charges to fulfill a CORA request.
